Namaste 🙏 Here, you shall find the music of Vid. Gangubai Hangal, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. Vasantrao Deshpande, Pt. Kumar Gandharva and other musicians. I received much of this from generous friends. The channel is not monetized as most of the Art is not mine, and rather is part of the collective rich cultural heritage of a bygone era in our beautiful land.
I also upload some of my own humble attempts to present the various khayals, abhangs and natyapade that I like to sing.
Now, there is no intention whatsoever to infringe copyrights for photos, audios or videos. If you want any photo, audio or video taken down, kindly contact me at amin.farhan8@gmail.com. I may take a day or so to reply.

Dear viewers, today's upload is that of a bhajan addressed to Lord Hanuman. This was written by my good friend, Shubham Jaiswal, and acquired a tune that draws on Basant Mukhari primarily (the interested listener can try to divine the other ragas by themselves and post their responses). As such, the bhajan would be best suited for a matutinal listen.

There is nothing to say about Sant Meerabai that her own bhajans don't say themselves-it's all there. The present bhajan composition happened today itself, just an hour or so ago. I remember a College friend teaching me how to play a proper ‘soft’ Dadra theka (not just simple Dha Dhin Dha, Dha Tun Na) for such pieces as this-that was nine years ago, come to think of it!

An early 2000s video recording of the Kirana colossus Bhimsen Joshi rendering a chhota khayal in the early evening raga, Poorvi, with son Shrinivas Joshi on vocal support, Sudhir Nayak on the harmonium and Samar Saha on the tabla. The other tanpura artiste's name is not known. The additional track has the sarangi played by Roshan Ali and the synthesizer by Babu Shome.

Confused here with the nomenclature.. while Pandit ji refers to this as Shuddha Bilawal, I see versions of the same bandish labelled as Yamani Bilawal elsewhere?
Yes, there is some confusion as regards the name. Khansaheb Abdul Karim’s recording appears to have carried the label 'Shuddha Bilawal' while Pt Bhimsen Joshi's 1965 recording (48 min) of the same bandish carries the Yamani Bilawal label.

There has not been such a talented & accomplished classical singer in the past 100 years and there won't be another one for the next 100 years. I heard him in the late 1950s when I was 12 years old. I was completely blown away although I did not know anything about classical music. It shows the power of this music and the singer. A true Bharat Ratna if there ever was one.

Presented here are two new khayals in Raga Charukeshi, the first is in Vilambit Jhoomra and the second in Drut Ektaal. The words of the first are: Kaun mukut waalo yeh sundarva hai? Bansiya bajaavat neeki, mana mohata hai! The words of the second are: Aayi Ritu Basant hai Anand manaavo re! Koyaliya bhanwara suna Huk utha mora manva Aavo re Kanhaiyya, more gharva aavo re!
